Choose a Lottery Strategy That Works

C

Math remains the best strategy for playing the lottery.

A sensible strategy is practically feasible for everyone to use because three mathematical principles exist to allow such a strategy despite the random nature of the lottery.

The three mathematical components in question are combinatorics, probability, and the law of large numbers. The details of how these three mathematical principles work together as a lotto strategy are discussed in simple terms in a dedicated section called: The Lottery and the Winning Formula According to Math. It’s a free section where you get to see everything that works from the perspective of mathematics.

Many people resort to all kinds of strategies just to increase the chance of grabbing the first prize in the lottery.  Is there a trick to winning the lottery? Many people ask. However, the vast majority of players fail to see how the lotto works from the mathematical point of view.

The lack of understanding of the lottery resulted in so many misconceptions and superstitions which eventually led to the invention of lotto strategies that don’t work.

For one thing, the lottery is a game that deals with numbers. Therefore, the best way to know what works in the lottery is to learn how to win the lottery mathematically.

Let’s review what math says about some of these lotto strategies and why they don’t work.

Hot and cold numbers

This strategy is very common.  I understand why the majority of players think this way.  They believe that when a number occurs so frequently, it is bound to occur more often in future draws.

However, mathematically, this is not how the lottery works.

Many players don’t win because they pick the wrong numbers because of this belief.  The truth is that hot numbers don’t work according to math.

While every one of us grew up and educated by the principle that each number has an equal chance in each lottery draw, this principle doesn’t apply when numbers are combined.

You have to pick 5 or 6 numbers correctly to win a lottery jackpot. This prerequisite should tell us to stop looking at the performance of an individual ball.

In probability, each number combination in the lottery doesn’t have equal chances of getting drawn. Want proof? Read this lottery research and you will never play the lottery the same way again.

Now, it’s important to emphasize that a combination and a number are two different terms. All numbers have the same chance of getting drawn no matter what the frequency has been.

When you combine numbers, you form a composition of numbers which then carry certain characteristics that define its probability.

Therefore, each number combination has a different probability of occurring.  The probability of each combination depends on the characteristics of its number composition.

For example, a 6-odd-number combination has less probability than a 3-odd-3-even combination.

My studies show consistent conclusion across all lottery systems, and now I would like to reveal to you the best, the good and the worst number combinations in the lottery.

Relying on Past Lottery Results

Are you gathering the past lottery results to get some clue on the patterns?

Well, that is not necessary.

If you know math well, you don’t need to analyze the previous results.

What I like about mathematics is that you can work with variables. You only need x and y variables to start with the calculation. In Powerball for instance, you pick 5 from 69 numbers.

So, x=5 and y=69. These two numbers are enough to get a better clue on how to win the powerball.

But don’t get me wrong.  I use the past lottery results to compare mathematical calculations.  That’s another reason why I love mathematics because you can prove your calculations by comparing it with the actual lottery results.

The truth is, you can determine the best types of combinations in the lottery using the principle of combinatorics and probability theory without the help of historical results.

People are wasting money

I can list down so many strategies here and prove to you how mediocre lottery players are when it comes to number selections.  In fact, about 10,000 people are playing the combination 1-2-3-4-5-6 every week according to a report by The Guardian.

Well, 1-2-3-4-5-6 is not the only worst combination in the lottery.  Truth be told, there are millions of bad combinations in the lottery.  If I have to list them down here, we will run out of space (for sure).

The thing is, you are probably one of the players who play these lousy number combinations in the lottery.  If you read my article How to Win the Lottery According to Math, you will understand what I mean.

It’s high time you use math

Do you want to win the lottery?

Then use mathematics.  And I am talking about combinatorics, probability theory, and the law of large numbers.

I know.  It is quite technical.  And the way it sounds is a nerd.

But don’t worry.  You don’t need a math degree to understand.

Here’s an example. Let us use Michigan Lottery Fantasy 5. Using combinatorial mathematics and applying the 3 mathematical concepts above will help you play effectively.

As a 5/39 game, there are 6 odd-even patterns for creating any of the 575,757 possible combinations. According to basic combinatorial analysis, the best choice is 3-odd-2-even since it has the highest probability value. The worst choice is a 5-even pattern that has 32 fewer occurrences in 100 draws.

Basic combinatorial analysis also includes the low-high patterns and ratios of combinations. Combinations following 3-low-2-high pattern offers the best ratio of 1 to 2. This is about 25 times better than the worst ratio.

Now, using these analyses on actual combinations, you will know how your combination can help you win. Let us again use 1-2-3-4-5. It has the best odd-even ratio, but a worst low-high ratio.

To reconcile the contradiction, change some numbers. Yet, this could take time once you have to manually compute the ratio for every new pattern you use.

The better alternative is to apply advanced combinatorial analysis. Here, you can just enter the numbers you want to use and you will instantly know which combinations are best, worst, good and bad.

From here, a perceptive player could create a strategy for playing.

For Michigan Lottery Fantasy 5, the best pattern is # 1 with probability value of 0.0703421756, 141 frequencies in 2,000 draws; 352 frequencies in 5,000 draws and 14 approximate intervals. One middle pattern is #17 with 0.0208421261 probability value; 42 occurrences in 2,000 draws; 104 occurrences in 5,000 draws and 48 approximate intervals. A worst pattern is #35 with 0.0075031654 probability value; 15 occurrences in 2,000 draws; 38 occurrences in 5,000 draws and 133 approximate intervals.

A sensible of pattern is pattern #1 (or #2 or #3) in a 5/39 game like Michigan Fantasy 5. It has the highest probability of 0.0703421756. Thus, you can have 7 opportunities to match the jackpot out of 100 draws; 141 in 2,000 draws and 352 in 5,000 draws.

With just 15 attempts, you can have one winning opportunity. This pattern also involves a shorter idle time, yet a great opportunity to save money, nonetheless. This means that if it occulted today, it will unlikely occur to tomorrow, but after about 12-16 draws.

The interval from the table is only an estimated value. There is no way to determine the exact interval between occurrences because of the randomness of the lottery.

Through the information combinatorics and probability provide, not only will you be able to play using best patterns of combinations. You would also be able to avoid wasting money on useless combinations.

No matter how many lines or tickets you buy, all efforts will be in vain if you are careless about the combinations you play.

The Advanced combinatorial analysis informs you about the probability, expected occurrences and estimate interval of patterns. Without this knowledge, it is easy to inaccurately play for combinations with patterns #4-#56. It is no doubt many people waste their money on combinations like 1-2-3-4-5.

Thus, an accurate lotto strategy based on correct mathematical concepts leads you to the proper direction of playing games with the best possible shot at winning.

Statistics of hot and cold numbers is not the basis of an accurate strategy. It is because statistics consider only a few draws.

An accurate game plan also does not rely on superstitious belief or quick picks. These only undermine the combination’s ratio of success to failure.
