Low-High Composition Analysis
In a fair lottery draw, numbers are selected from the entire number field without bias. When that field is divided into low and high halves, each half carries the same probability of contributing numbers to any given draw. Because of this, combinations with a spread across both halves make up a larger portion of the total combination space than combinations concentrated entirely in one half.
This calculator shows the frequency ratios of each low-high composition group for your chosen lottery format, derived from combinatorics and probability theory. Further explanation follows below.

Understanding low and high Number Compositions
Every individual lottery combination carries equal probability in a single draw. What differs is how many combinations belong to each composition group.
A combination like 1-2-3-4-5 draws entirely from the low end of the number field. The group of all-low combinations is small relative to the full combination space. A combination that draws from both the low and high portions of the field belongs to a larger group, one that occupies more of the total combination space.
Under the law of large numbers, observed frequencies across many draws tend to move toward the theoretical proportions that combinatorics describes. Groups with more combinations appear more often over the long run. This is a property of how the combination space is structured, not a property of any individual draw.

The Limit of Low-High Analysis Alone
A balanced low-high split describes one dimension of a combination's composition. On its own, it does not tell the full story.
Consider 2-4-6-42-44. It has a mixed low-high split. It is also made up entirely of even numbers. In a 5/70 game, the group that composition belongs to is expected to appear roughly three times in every 100 draws on average. Balanced on one dimension, rare on another.
This is why low-high analysis alone has limits. A combination can sit in a common group along one dimension while belonging to a rare group along another.
